2021 trendy colours

2020, November

Written by Lou Ancelin
At the end of each year, the Maison et Objet Fair is an opportunity for decoration professionals to discover the main colours of the following year. The 2020 edition was held in digital format from September 14 to 18.

Ochre and Sienna
Terracotta or chocolate? The 2021 colour trend is a return to natural elements and more specifically to the earth. It leads us towards soft and organic hues to design warm and relaxing interiors, celebrating the authenticity and nobility of nature. The generous palette of browns adds a new depth to interior spaces, further enhanced by touches of livelier tones like coral for example.

Fifty shades of beige
Between off-white and very light brown, there is an infinite number of shades of beige and it is easy to match them with saturated colours. Beige evokes the colour of natural wool, the old-fashioned charm of our great-grandmothers linen and confirms this quest for roots.

Carbon black
Black and its timeless elegance returned to the front of the stage in 2021, on a few selected walls to felt the ambiance or for furniture and textiles of furnishing. To be lightened with pops of colours.

Classic blue

Pantone’s 2020 colour will remain very trendy next year, especially for carpets and indoor textiles. A cold and sophisticated hue whose depth makes ochers vibrate harmoniously by contrast.

Leaf green
Rather soft and airy types of green, like sage-green are recommended, in order to create relaxing atmospheres imprinted with the naturally soothing sweetness of the plant world.

We expect to know 2021 Pantone's color of the year, which will be unveiled during the first fortnight of December. At TecSOM, we have some idea already...
